![]() ![]() It's a sacrifice you have to be willing to make for this modern design. Adapters are included to give you a headphone jack and a USB Type-A port, but it's a bit cumbersome to require an adapter like this. All you'll find here are two Thunderbolt 4 ports, and that's it. As for portability, the laptop is just 15.28mm thick and weighs 2.73 pounds, so it's very easy to take with you anywhere.Ī downside of this modern and compact design, paired with the beefier processors, is that there isn't a lot of room for ports, and Dell has cut back even further than previous models. This all makes for a clean modern look you can't get anywhere else. And finally, the function row at the top isn't made of physical keys, and instead uses touch-sensitive areas that are lit up with different labels depending on whether you press the Fn key or not. Second, the keyboard keys have nearly no space between them, and no space at the edges of the laptop, either. First, there's no visible touchpad, meaning it just blends into the chassis and makes for an even cleaner look. This is an incredibly modern-looking laptop, and a few things contribute to that. On the other hand, the design of this laptop is one of its best features. However, the company did improve the sensor, and it separated the main camera from the Windows Hello IR sensor, so image quality overall should still be much better than previous iterations. Dell is one of the only companies to still be suing 720p webcams in its premium laptops in 2022, which takes away a bit of the appeal of this laptop. The biggest downside of the XPS 13 Plus is its webcam. There's also an Ultra HD+ (3840 x 24400) LCD option which is ideal for creative work since it covers 100% of Adobe RGB. The base model comes in Full HD+ (1920 x 1200) resolution, which is already great, but you can upgrade to a stunning 3.5K (3456 x 2160) OLED option that's very sharp while also having the usual benefits of OLED, like true blacks, vivid colors, and high contrast ratios. Tall screens are great for productivity, whether that's working with text, spreadsheets, or media apps that have complex interfaces, like Photoshop. It's got a great display, too, being a 13.4-inch panel with a tall 16:10 aspect ratio (though not quite as tall as 3:2). It's a fully aluminum chassis, though, so the weight is justified. As for portability, the laptop is roughly 17mm thick and weighs 3.01 pounds, so it's fairly portable, though there are definitely lighter laptops at this size. There's also a new Nocturne Blue version, with dark blue surfaces and light blue accents, for a more subdued, yet still unique look. The Natural Silver option is still only a single color, while Nightfall Black mixes black surfaces with copper accents at the edges. The latest model has surfaces that curve towards the edges, leading into a slight accent depending on the color you choose. The Spectre family is also known for its iconic dual-tone design, and HP made some tweaks this time around. Of course, Windows Hello facial recognition is also still supported, so it's as convenient as ever. All of HP's premium laptops now come with a 5MP webcam, which supports 1080p video in addition to having smart features like auto framing and lighting correction. One area where HP has made some major upgrades this year is the webcam, and thankfully so. ![]() The base model is Full HD+ (1920 x 1280), and you can equip it with a privacy screen if you want to, but the best upgrade option is the 3K2K (3000 x 2000) OLED panel, which looks stunning with vibrant colors and true blacks. You get even more vertical space to work with this way, so it's truly great for productivity, and it makes the screen feel much bigger than it is. Like the Spectre x360 14 before it, the new Spectre x360 13.5 has a 13.5-inch display and it comes with a 3:2 aspect ratio, which is one of the tallest formats you'll find on a modern laptop. ![]()
